This research examines how the temporal configuration in Menéndez Pidal’s version of El enamorado y la muerte redefines its meaning. Time generates narrative and symbolic meaning through heterochrony, specifically the coexistence and conflict of temporalities (Chronos, Aion, and variants of Kairos) that compose a treatise on the phenomenology of time. Through a semiotic-comparative analysis of this version and its virtual program, the analysis suggests a framework based on liminality, ambiguity, and temporal reterritorialization, which determines the architecture of time. Ultimately, heterochrony may emerge as a generative principle, rooted in premodern versions and later crystallized in the modern imaginary.
